Mine Is the Best!

Steve Daletas grew a gourd 2,000 pounds (almost 907 kg). Daletas, 55 from Oregon, won $12,000 at a pumpkin competition in Half Moon Bay, California on Oct. 12. His gourd is the world’s 12th heaviest pumpkin, and the heaviest in California this year.
Daletas’s winning gourd and the other top five from the contest will be displayed at the world-famous Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival from Oct. 17-18. This is the third time Daletas has won the competition. He was also the champion in 2001 and 2003. The Annual Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off is in its 42nd year.
